Political Thoughts and Ideas

Some ideas, views and thoughts that may be of interesst
Naturally we all have these and I hope that the general concept
is that you , the reader will agree more with, than against.

This page is designed to provoke some thought.

Why is it that nearly all the worlds inner cities have poor areas which are mostly Socialist ?
Surely it would perhaps be beneficial to these areas to vote for Conservatives and then they become wealthier !

Why is it that most of the wealthy areas do vote Conservative ?

The fundamental difference between left and right of the centre line is the
balance between taking tax money from the taxpayer and then been told how it has been spent or
having more control over how it is spent .

The whole point of taxation is to provide  common essential services that are good value
and not to waste taxpayers money on things that can be paid  for by choice

That health care and hospital services should be better
From cradle to grave and better support and attention to patients needs and wants.

older people need better home help care and a system to assist them if they become less self sufficient..

That education should concentrate on teaching young people how to live their lives in the future and to
provide a basic minimum standard for all.  Reading , writing and mathamatics should be regarded as priorities
as soon as possible. Language skills should also be encouraged as should physical activety/sports.

That people should be encouraged to save for the future. Those who are unfortunate should not be penalised,
however those who do save should receive a fair reward by not being taxed on those savings as much.

Wealth spending is easier than wealth creating.
More should be done to create wealth.

Governments and banks should do more to assist people to set up their own small businesses
even if half fail, then the other half may succeed and this will create future wealth and employment
Most small business owners want to succeed / better this than to have high unemployment.

Poorer people in society should pay less taxation / wealthier people should pay progressively more the more they have,
without discouraging them from wealth creation.

We must start rewarding hard work and honesty
and punishing/discouraging cheating in society.

We should encourage good neighbourly actions.
be observant about gross misconduct such as stealing,
wilfull damage to others properties.
breaking into others homes or cars.
More effort to reduce graffitti - making those who commit this offence , clean it up
Rubbish and illegal tipping should also be discouraged  more as an anti/social behaviour.
Binge drinking, drunken behaviour, fighting, taking drugs, noise pollution, neighbour disturbance etc,
should be looked at as anti/social behaviour that is discouraged.

More resources to build homes that are larger  inside and have better insulation from noise and weather etc.
Energy saving , better designs,  and in particular the end to inner city ghettoes.
Peoples homes should be of better standard and quality.

Traffic planning should assist the flow of traffic and provide adequate car parking .

More effort should be made to produce energy saving vehicles that are cheaper, reliable,
economic in fuel and designed for safety and not speed.

More work to replant forests and reduce the logging of trees.

pollution should be reduced and more effort by industry must be done by all countries.

Clean drinking watwer should be available to everyone everywhere
as should basic forms of energy such as electricity for lighting/heating /cooking etc

That more children should be encouraged to learn English as a first or a second language so as within a generation or two
it should be possible for everyone to be able to commyunicate in one common language ( without  losing their own language(s))

Whilst I do not feel the British first past the post system is any worse or better than other electoral systems, I do feel that there should be a change in the system so as there remains a Constituency member of parliament elected by first past the post, but that some account of the local, regional and national votes could be added so as to include some proportional representation . Perhaps an average of about 75,000 electorate in  645 constituencies with the approx existing number of MP's , but perhaps an increase of about 355 members based on the actual votes. Some attention to encouraging serious  and individual candidates who are outside of the political parties system but without encouraging the silly element too much - deposits fees, should be kept to a minimum.
